I'm looking into getting a new laptop mainly for school and work, and a few games here and there. I was looking into the F8Sn or the M51Sn notebooks. From the specs they both look great, but I was wondering how they run. Can anyone give me more insight on these laptops or any others that fit this mold. I'm looking at a budget of around $1500, so if there are any other notable notebooks, please let me know.

First you have decide on which screen size you would prefer. Based on your $1500 budget, you could easily pick out a high performance laptop from Asus ensemble lineup whether it's a 14 inch or 15.4 inch in screen size. Most Asus notebook you will be looking at now are refresh models based on the same chassis design except M50 and M51 series. You could also refer to their "Owners Lounge" on here for questions like build & design, overall performance, screen quality, and software-related issues. There are also quite a few Asus notebook reviews that you should take advantage of at this time since most of them just got posted recently.

Have a look on the models listed below and you should find at least a couple good potential candidates to help you deciding your future purchase.

    14" Screen Size
    F8Sn-A1
    F8Sn-B1
    F8Sn-C1

    15.4" Screen Size
    M51sn-A1
    M50Sv-A1
    M50Sv-B1
    G1Sn-A1

OP, you should probably fill in the FAQ if you want other suggestions.

Considering the 9500m GT has apparently identical performance the 8600m then I would just look at reviews of the F8SV to get an idea of what the last models were capable.

Wich 1 would be better for gaming (heatwise)? I mean the performance should be the same, cuz both have the same specs but, would the 15.4" be better for extended periods of gaming (5+ hrs)?

I would rather have the 14" but not sure if it can handle extended periods of gaming, my vostro couldnt handle that rythm for sure =(

would a 14" handle a 9500gs running for extended periods of time (my vostro was melting with the much weaker 8400gs...)?? maybe with a notebook cooler?

or would be the 15.4" much wiser solution(better room for ventilation, bigger heatsink, bigger fan, etc)??

either way both are sexy beasts =p

Personally I prefer the smaller screen size, mainly for portability. I feel if I get a laptop too big I may as well go with a desktop and lug it from place to place. I have a few friends with ASUS laptops and all of them say they are great, and haven't had any problems with them. I was just curious how these laptops in particular perform. Are they good for gaming? I'm sure for text editing and internet they're far beyond what I'll need for school, so I'm just wondering how they hold up with something like Crysis.
