    Based solely on looks which of these two models is better.
    The W7J or the W3J ??

    I would appreciate if someone who has physically seen both laptops comment please, somehow I feel from the pictures I have seen that the W3J is sexier but I havent really seen it in person.

    If someone can put pictures of both laptops together (hint P1) that would be just awesome !

    Well, I own the W3J and it is very beautiful. Its by far the best looking laptop I've ever seen. I've seen many pictures of the W7J, and frankly, the W3J just looks so much sexier. Hope this helps.

    W7J looks sexier for me. The mouse and the keyboard are very very very sexy.. Also the way the webcam is positioned is really nice.

    Here's the most unbaised opinion, from the most biased person.....

    The brushed aluminum lid on the W3 is hands down sexier... the battery design on the W3 is sexier......... the touch pad is sexier on the W3 also...... But the W7 certainly has something.... I don't know what it is, but it's more minimalistic, even more so than the W3 and that's sexy in it's own right. However, both are 10x better than anything else from other companies, so it's really hard to say one is sexier than the other..... but coming from someone that's around them every day and uses them all the time.... I've gotta love the W3, but the W7 is my new toy. The above comment about the position of the webcam is also something I like but think it's not really the position, but that combined with the scale and dimensions of it in regards to the rest of the notebook.. it just looks right.

    To people who have only seen these notebooks from photo:

    The actual unit of W3J looks better than photo;

    The photo of W7J looks better than the actual unit(same with A8Jm);

    Look-wise, W3J beats W7J hands down, no doubt.

    It depends on how you define "good-looking", "beautiful", or "sexy". For me, a beautiful notebook design is a balance of curves, slim-profile, and sharp contours. For some people, beautiful might be something utilitarian, meaning conventional notebook designs (not too flashy but more substance a la IBM or Dell).

    for me, the w7j. I HATE the aluminum finish on the w3j. its grotesque. just like my a8jm power button.

    Lets face it guys, both of these machines are 10 times better looking than anything else on the market. Asus is setting the bar for notebook manufacturers around the world (but mostly in Asia).

    For example: Ferrari... meet Lamborghini baby!

    All that being said, there is nothing I'd rather cary than a 13.3" W3J!!

    I love my W7J. Now if only I can find a good 13.3 notebook bag to preserve my W7J's sexiness :mad:

    No there is no webcam on the W3J.

    Now back on topic, once I received my W3J in person, it got me drooling over it with its sexy sleek brushed metal like look. I am biased to the W3J of course :D but if the W7J is like the W3J then it's one beautiful machine as well.

    Even thought I bought the W7J, I think the W3J looks a lot better than W7J, but I wouldn't ditch 300 more just for it though.

    if it wasn't for that silver panel for the webcam, i'd give it to the w7j. but that really detracts from the look of the laptop. i hate to say it, but apple does the webcam right, it's discrete. i mean, that is if you're going to have a webcam at all.... both are definately lookers though.

    I own a W7J, and frankly I thought it didn't look as good in person. I haven't seen a w3j in person but even then the w3j looks better in photos imo. Not saying the w7j is ugly, but I was slightly disappointed by the look.

    lol, each to their own eyes and opinions. Personally, though, never saw them both in person, they do look like fine machines. This thread kinda reminds me of the thought on the (car analogy) the 2002 Civic SI (US)/2006 SI. Tons of people say yay, and tons say nay, and some in the middle.

    But, if I had to really say. I kinda like the W3J better.

    ... when it comes to people's opinions on comparing design, everyone and their brother can love the notebook, and like the design of the notebook....... but when trying to compare say a W7 and W3, all kinds of differing opinions should be expected.

    ..... I mean, some people will put down a W7 just because of the camera..... others will love it because the camera isn't as big as the one on the W5...... Some people will get held up on the brushed aluminum of the W3, but over time it's all sort of moot.. Some people look the quick launch buttons on the W3, but after a year of use... just the way I pass my notebook around in the car, I hate them because my fingers always knock them and turn off my wifi or launch media player.... so just that alone makes be like the W7.... while others will hate it for the same reason.

    The battery design of the W3 should attract everyone as it's totally different than anything else on the market...... most people probably don't realize it, but that's what's attracting you..... the lid is secondary and so is the touchpad...... but all my be the reasons you've made the decision one way or the other.... but on a whole, although a very personal choice, unless you have used both, it's impossible for you to really go one way or another.... The W3 photographs a lot better and there are a lot more photos of the W3 out there because it's been out for more than a year......

    The W7 is really just the latest in the line of notebooks that have done exceptionally well over the years. I know it's a W series, but I break current systems down into two sides......... Back in 2004 when Asus came back into this market, they brought the S5n (12") and then that summer they brought the W1n (15.4")....... Since then, all of the notebooks can really take their lineage from more one design or the other. The ones that really come from the W1 side would be the W3 / W2 / V1........ Coming from the S5 side would be the W5 / W7 / S6 .......... with the V6 really a mixture of both.

    ... It's like looking at a bunch of ferrari's and justifying one over the other.... It can be done, but boring and ugly certainly won't be mentioned either way.........

    This is one hell of a thread now that I think about it....... if only the W7 had been out longer and there were more owners on the forum.... and perhaps more people who have seen and used both in person..

    At work, a lady came in with a W7j, oh man, I think she thought I was staring at her(but it was mainly the W7j) :p

    It's small and sleek, but large enough for everyday work(and extra gaming if need be!) while maintaining a size thats small and thin enough for being portable.
