This strange issue happens when I'm using LAN connection only, not with WLAN. Whenevery I do what I do with the laptop, then close the lid and return an hour or so later, neither Firefox or Internet Explorer won't open any web pages anymore.

Both get stuck at "Looking up host ..." right away. Funny thing is that network works perfectly otherwise; ping, nslookup, Live! Messenger, uTorrent, etc work, everything except for any web browser and the only thing I can do to fix it is to restart the computer.

I've set up the network card to not be allowed to turn itself off to save power from Device Manager but that didn't help much so I'm kind of running out of ideas. Anybody know what might be the problem..?

I'm using Windows XP Professional w/ SP3 by the way.

[edit] And the laptop is G1S of course. [/edit]

here's a couple of options u can try first.
    1. After coming out of standby/sleep try and release and renew you ip address
    2. Install new LAN drivers and update your bios.

Let us know if that works :)

Ok, finally back at relying on LAN connection only. I have 300 BIOS, latest Realtek drivers and tried /releasing -> /renewing IP but none of those helped. Still stuck on 'Looking for host...' while everything else works. :l
