This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Loud fan whining - FZ50VX laptop - exchange or keep?

    I've only had this laptop for about 2 weeks. I ordered it online from Costco. Yesterday the cooling fan was loud, as if it was going to die. It was giving off a high pitched sound, didn't sound normal at all. Today it's OK. I'm debating whether I should return this, possibly order another one or get something else entirely. I bought this one because it was cheaper than the Dell or Apple I was looking at, and it has a Bluray drive. It has an SSD plus 1TB hard drive. Battery life is terrible though. I'm getting less than 2 hours.

    Supposedly this is based on the G series but I can find very little information about this. It does come in a box labeled Gaming Laptop.
