Hey I just pre-ordered it. Thought we can make a thread here in anticipation...and to answer/ask questions to those retailers who we pre-ordered it with.

    I can't wait!

(Hoping I did the right thing by paying 500 more for the V2S-A1 over the Dell inspiron 1420 nearly similarly configged....)

Don't get too excited, I have been waiting forever, and there's still probably at least a solid 2 weeks left until they ship.

    Where did you order from?

I think I will be waiting for eddie's deal also. Its a shame that milestone didnt offer the same deal that they offered in canada to the US. Either way I'm sure I will be satisfied.

In USA, I will say you can expect it to be shipped out from dealers in 10 days.

In canada, our offer of the pre-order is almost unbeatable, I can do that because no one wants to beat me that much, the market will be still peaceful.

In USA, our offer of the pre-order is not bad ( US$1745 + 100G free external HD ), probably the second best in the market. I just want to be second to Eddie's offer, I am scared of him :). He didn't offer unlimited qty anyway, so I still have chance to get some pre-orders.

Prices cannot go too low is because Asus has bottom line prices for resellers, the rule is whoever goes across the line will not get supply. I don't want that happens to me. Asus now has a few dedicated guys watching reseller prices, also this forum.

Wish Asus would reveal V2s-A1's battery life, include a 9 cell in the bundle, or have it cheaper than Eddie's $160.

You would think that you wouldn't have to offer that much to Canada since you were already the best deal, (not trying to ruin your deal canadians).

I can understand you being scared of Eddie, but didn't he say that his offer was his last offer as well?

If you were to offer the same thing in the US as you do in Canada why would that matter to Asus...since you already are offering it anyway??

Not trying to push you though, I just really want that docking station :p .

To be frank, from my understanding, Eddie's offer passed the bottom line which seems dangerous to me, that is the real reason I don't want to follow.

Disclose one thing I shouldn't really disclose to you guys, couple of months ago, I passed the bottom line once and my supply of the hot notebooks got shut down right away for a few weeks. That time, I just passed the bottom line under table, not to public, but somehow( I don't know how ) I got caught be Asus.

Milestone, will you be selling the 9-cell battery? How much will it cost?

Well I wasn't saying match his price or anything, I was just saying match your offer for Canada for the States :). I don't mean to be pushy, but if you didn't pass the bottom line there then you wouldn't pass the bottom line here....So your offer would cost more but include more value in accessories(docking station), whereas his would be cheaper and only offer a hd.

So that way you would get the preorders for people who would eventually buy the docking station, whereas he would get the preorders for those who just an outright cheaper price.

Sorry if im being too forward, just a suggestion :)

From what you said, I understand you thought the docking station is from my pocket, no, it is not, how can my selling price cover such a big gift? :) Everything needs special support and aproval from Asus (to use my marketing fund).

Of course, why not? I said "shut down for a few weeks" for bad boys. If it happens again and again, you might be permanently shut down.

    That's why.

By the way, could you notify us when you get an ETA from ASUS for the F8sv? I'm swaying since V2s doesn't include the battery, and F8sv even has the better graphics card.

    Thanks.

Right now I don't see the 9-cell battery on Asus accessory list yet. It will be hard to get an ETA very soon on that F8.

I FEEL, based on nothing, just I feel, maybe there is some issue on F8SV, so Asus said more test needed, because originally it was planned to release together with V2S, I feel so because it has close specs with C90, and we see C90 has quite a few complaint now. Again, I said I feel.

A couple more weeks and it comes out, can't wait to see the reviews. Sucks theres no 9-cell though. that was a major swaying factor from the F8 to the V2.

the only thing that I really regret about the V2S is that it only comes with a MONO internal microphone. The dell 1420 and the HP dv2500t both have DUAL stereo microphones...man that burns, I really wanted to record lectures with the kewl swivel camera but I guess that's not really gonna happen..
    :(

I always wondered why people record lectures, do they actually go back to rewatch them?

Anyhow, I'm getting a little antsy waiting for the arrival of my V2S... Hope it arrives on expected date...

Seriously, I don't see how people have the time to go to the lecture, record everything, then go back home and search through all the recordings to find relevant information. You're better off listening the first time through.

I am definitely not planning on using my V2s in class, I have a hard enough time paying attention in class as it is :p .

20 units with the deal included. There will be more than 20, but they will not have the bundle included.
