Hello all this is my first post so I'll say hi to start :)
I purchased this refurbished notebook from tiger direct and I have a couple of questions.

    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4786505&CatId=3998&SRCCODE=LSCAN&cm_mmc_o=-ddCjC1bELltzywCjC-d2CjCdwwp&AffiliateID=CAqD7bLWUPI-R8wzXIZn16lwwaLfN5pjOA

I would really like to downgrade to windows Xp Pro until windows 7 is released in full, I can't seem to find the XP drivers for this model but I'm sure I've seen posts on successful downgrades to Xp with this model so any help would be really appreciated.
Secondly, would any of you know if this notebook qualifies for the free windows 7 upgrade due to it being a refurb?

    Thanks.

Why don't you like Vista? Have you used it? Have you installed the latest service pack for Vista?

If TigerDirect gave you a voucher for a free upgrade, then you are eligible. If not, you are not eligible.

Not only that, but it would probably take you more time to round up all of the necessary drivers, install everything, and then work out the conflicts than it would to simply "deal" with _Vista and wait around for Win7 to be released.

i just got the same notebook and it came with vista, it was my first time using vista, and I must say, it's pretty good. I don't know why people [female dog] about it. I was a die-hard XP fan myself, but Vista isn't so bad.

Yeah really nothing too wrong with Vista now. I have 7 on another PC and it runs even better. They both run better than my win xp gamer. Your specs show 4 gigs of ram that will not be recognized on winxp????? You would be better off to do any changes in OS when 7 goes retail in October

Unless you have application that do not work on Windows Vista, I suggest you keep working with Vista. After installing the service pack 2 and removing the unnecessary programs/features, Vista will be pretty good, with more security and features than XP.

Lol it might start to grow on you like it did me after I got everything ironed out and installed. Hopefully though you will be luckier than me though as my SSD promptly died shortly afterwards! :D

Only thing with Vista that pisses me off are UAC and DEP. DEP you can rid of anytime but UAC you have to deal with directly after clean install or never turn it off because you'll soon have problems with files that aren't recognized or save games dissapearing until you turn the [female dog] on again. Some applications just refuse to work without UAC off because you installed with it on.

Really? What games in particular? For this and my old laptop I turned off UAC as soon as I could, but when I first used Vista on my old HP I didn't turn off UAC for a couple of weeks. After I turned it off I had no problems with it.
