Hi everyone, I have an ASUS M2400E whose fan is really noisy ... do you guys have any suggestions on which measures I could take to minimize the noise??
I have considered changing the fan, however I am not aware which fans fit in the M2400E ...
Thank you in advance!!!

At this time - because of so many changes in chassis' - the M2's fan isn't like any of the others anymore...... I wouldn't worry about changing the fan as much as I would try to update the bios to the latest thing out there..... I'm sure the E model hasn't had an update in more than year, but often the code for the fan rpm / temp threshold is updated as time goes by to where it's adjusted nicely... you could try looking at Asus' download page. If you can't find the latest or already have the latest... let me know.
Also.... get an update on power4gear.... even back on the M2e, it worked nicely to step the cpu... if you step the cpu, you create less heat and therefore your fan won't need to spin at such a high rate. -
Thanks for the reply.
I have already updated the bios and the M2400E is running power 4 gear ...
Any other suggestions?? -

That's it....... I used to love my old M2.... what cpu do you have in that thing? The "e" model is the mobile P4, is it not? The M2 came in P2 / P3 mobile / P4 mobile and Pentium M.... the P4 mobile didn't run all that cool though.

I have the P4 mobile in it .... would it not be possible to replace the fan with a low noise fan from e.g Papst???
If this is the case which ones will fit in the M2400E??? -
If yo live near an ASUS service centre, than maybe its worth giving them a call to see if they have any suitable fans in stock. Without taking you notebook apart to see the make of the old fan im not sure if you be able to get help on this on. I have an M2N with a PM but the fan on this is soooo quite. Assuming that yours is the same as mine, you should be able to get too the cpu fan very easily from the bottom of the notebook....you could also try giving your old fan a blow with some compressed air....its possible that a build up of dust is causing the noise.
good luck

I have just cleaned the fan, however there is no noticeable change(I will get in touch with an ASUS service center next week to see if they have a suitable replacement.)
The model number for the fan is GB0555AGV1-8A and it is manufactured by Sunon, does anyone have the specs for this or know of a place where I can find them (I have tried google)??

Nup sorry, never heard of them...most likely an asian company, that probably dont sell retail. Best bet is to try ASUS.

ps you could see if the ASUS e-store has it? -
However, I am situated in Denmark and they do not ship outside the US (besides canada) and I cant seem to find an european equivalent to them
