:asus:
Hello everybody!
I'm recently experiencing problems with
my M3N. The DVD comes out with read I/O errors when I try to read files. Also burning sessions of both CDs and DVDs fail after a while (it starts fine but then it fails after two minutes). See also the error below (Ok it's in italian, but i swear it's an I/O error!)
I/O error
OS is Windows XP service pack 2.
DVD is a Matsu****a UJ-810 and firmware version is C100. (Yea i can now guess what that matsus|-|1ta stands for, pure and utter s|-|it A quality, if i just had known it b4!)
Firmware version
Bios version is AMI 205...
Another funny thing I've noticed is that according to DiscInfo the driver is not locked to any particular region code, but I remember vividly I did lock it on Zone 2 (for europe) not less than a year ago. So what? Who forgot my region code? The operative system? The driver's ROM? (yea it's impossible).
Now the very funny point here is that the DVD IS PERFECTLY WORKING!!!!
Actually it boots great with linux and it also works great when I start XP in safe mode...so it must be some sort of driver issue...but what? Has anybody ever experienced something similar?
I've also tried to reinstall the whole system but it didn't help.
Can someone please advice me on this?
Thanks a lot.![]()

Hey sorry to hear bout the drive...all I can say is that from memory there were a lot of problems with that model and make. For eg the inability to use software byparse for multi-region dvds. I also had a poor experiance with my toshiba drive on my M6n, it no longer burns dvds although it does cds fine and reads ok....thus I dont trust slimburners at all anymore. The only think I can suggest is to do a search on google for that drive...it was used by a number of different notebook makers...there maybe a patched firmare, or someone may have figured out a workaround.
Good luck a
ps the other option would be to try and get another drive for the lappie. U should be able to pick one up for a reasonable price online in europe.
