    Hi,

What exactly does the battery calibratin utility do?.

Basically, when should the utility be used?. Is it essential the first time we use the laptop?

Any info in this regard will be helpful.

    Thanks

    KT

The battery calibration utility is found in the AMIbios on the system.

This utility discharges the battery, and then recharges it very quickly. This helps to increase the battery capacity, but you have to be very careful with it, because if the battery is older, it may not be able to bear this stress, and may reduce its capacity, instead of inreasing it! I presonally f...ed up my old laptop's battery by doing this. That's why I don't use this utility anymore. It's better to drain it by working with the notebook and then recharge it![ :D][ :D]

i did the battery calibration thing for my M3Np, and my battery life improved by a bit. I can usually get around 4 hours using the email/office mode from Power4Gear, but after tee calibration.. got 4.5 to 5 hours with the same email/office mode. [ :D] but maybe it just shows a more accurate level for my battery life as compared to before. i usually believe what the laptop tells me about battery life...
