    Hi,

    I've got an Asus m50vn (I've posted about it here before) and have recently noticed a viewing angle problem, I was just wondering if it was normal and If there was anything I could do about it.

    When playing a darkish game, ie half life 2, no matter how I position the screen so I can see it all properly. Either the bottom is fine and at the top I get a black/inversed colour effect, or the top is fine and the bottom is really washed out. This actually makes the game almost impossible to play as about 1/4 of the screen I can hardly see.

    I only just noticed this because when just in windows I don't have this problem at all. Its also noticeable when watching videos or when the comp boots up

    Thanks

    I can't say that I can relate to seeing something like this..

    Could you take a photo of it, I'll try to recreate a similar scene and see if the same happens to me.. that is unless we have different screen manufactures.

    Good idea, I'll try and do that when I get home tonight

    Actually, a little off topic, but since you have the same computer as me : Have you tried any modern games on it? I'm not really a big fan normally but I was thinking of buying something new if it'll run okay, maybe fallout 3?

    Fallout 3 runs okay with med settings, COD is very scaleable, Mass effect is very playable as well.

    In general it can run most newer games @30fps at decent settings, just don't turn up AA.

    GTA4/Crysis? Forget about it.

    Funny note: Mass Effect, in my case, does not seem to take any notable performance hit between low-high texures, but is always using 100% CPU.

    @King

    Can you post what model your LCD monitor is? You can use the Everest program to find out.

    Mine is a CPT1465 CLAA154WP05A. Page 2: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=315110

    I find the angles to be fine except when viewed from below the image seems to wash out (even in windows). But then I haven't played that many games apart from Bioshock which is dark.

    Just interested in your model as everyone has different subjective expectations, and the 2 other comments I have seen about this panel have been good.

    I also didn't notice any backlight issues, except at the bottom it may be a little there evenly along the bottom edge of the screen. But nothing like the M51 photos I have seen.
