I've had my Asus M50SV since May 2008, and since July or so, I've been running into increasingly severe problems.
For some reason, my laptop screen viewing angle has been severely decreased. It is not a backlight issue, as the screen still becomes bright, however, I can only see the screen when the lid is open at a 45 degree angle (essentially unusable). Sometimes, if I hit the top of the LCD bevel, I can get the screen to flicker and stay on at a better viewing angle (just under perpendicular to the keyboard).
I'm not sure whether this is due to a loose connection, or due to the inverter.
Also, my webcam has stopped working. I no longer see the UVC camera in My Computer. I don't see "Imaging Devices" under Device Manager. In addition, there are no Unknown devices.

In addition, when trying to install the Chicony, D-Max or Azurewave drivers, they all return the same "Install Failed! USB2.0 UVC VGA/1.3M Webcam" error.
I've Googled this problem, and people have mentioned a bad lvmvdrv.sys (Logitech driver) in the registry, but I have checked this, and it is not the case.
Anyone have any ideas?

regarding the webcam. I ran into the same issue when installing this under windows xp. if you are wunning xp use the vista driver instead. it will install normally
Have you disabled your ambient light sensor. I know on this model als can severely impact brightness and view angle
