The main differences between the two are that the SV has a better graphics card and the SA has an extra gig of memory. I have no plans on playing games, this laptop is purely for a portable drum recording studio and playing samples using Battery with Mandala USB pads. Since a better graphics card is useless for this computer it seems like the SA is a better option, what else is different about them? I'm looking for 4 gigs of memory, a T9300 processor, and a 250 or 320 gb hard drive. For listening to music while travelling some nice built in speakers would be great, along with either a 9+ cell battery standard or optional add-on. Asus seems to be offering all that, but there are just so many models. Oh, and I also don't want something with a super reflective/glarey screen.

ye the sv also has higher resolution. the extra gb of ram is nice IF it came with a 64 bit o.s.

the biggest difference is you can get much better support on the sv. if you dont need the slightly better graphics of the x1 (the 3650 seems to be slightly better) or the higher res screen available from newegg (im not sure on the model, its the 1599 model). your best off buying an sv from one of the asus resellers like gentechpc or btotech, i also hear good things about xoticpc. any of these small companies will give you absolutely amazing service. Newegg is nice, and great for what they are, but they cannot match these asus resellers when it comes to service

Well I just bought the M50sa-ak023c from newegg and am expecting it to arrive tomorrow. I bought it to use as a mobile recording studio and to do programming on. I'm hoping that I can get it to run VERY quiet when recording and then I need the power when using Ableton Live, various plugins, and sample libraries. I chose it because of the screen resolution, the maxed out cpu/memory and HD space.
I specifically wanted the 1680x1050 resolution screen so I could see more information regarding plugins and sample libraries as well as any tracking software I'm running. I'm also a programmer and am hoping that the higher resolution means I can look at more code and database schemas without scrolling as much.
I fully plan on writing a review of it from a mobile recording/DAW perspective once I've taken it through some tasks. -
I am posting this message from an M50Sa-X1 right now, I just got this computer yesterday and aside of the fact that the resolution is slightly lower than I would have liked (it's only 1200x800) this computer is ridiculously fast.
I don't have any benchmarks as of yet, but I write an extensive review as soon as I get a spare minute.
I would highly recommend this computer to anyone who is looking for an affordable, very capable computer.
M50SV-A1 or M50SA-X1???
