When I put the 8GB ExpressCard SSD into the ExpressCard slot that came with my new M50VM I get absoluty no response from Vista at all. When I plug the same card into the supplied USB adapter and pop it into a USB port on the laptop, Vista sees it instantly. Any ideas on what might be going on with the ExpressCard slot?

The Express Slot may not be hotswappable, which means that you may need to restart Vista after you insert for the card to be recognized.

The slot might also be disabled from BIOS. Otherwise it's some sort of problem.

I suppose you don't have other ExpressCard devices lying around to try them in the port...

I have rebooted several times and I can't find any BIOS settings pertaining to the ExressCard slot. :(

Then this might be an express slot problem... Maybe it requires some sort of driver? (it shouldn't...) but you can check the Device Manager nevertheless, see if there are any question marks anywhere, or conflicts for the Express slot (I'm not sure under what name or in what category it is listed)...

People with more experience with Express slots should help. I have never used it...
