Hello guys,
I own an ASUS M50VM since August 2008 with Vista preinstalled.
The Notebook worked fine until mid of October 2008, and than suddenly I started to get bluescreen problems every time I try to put the system to Sleep mode.
Actually, it hangs while trying to go to sleep mode and after about 10 minutes it gives a bluescreen with the message: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.
I called ASUS support many times but all their suggestions did not work.![]()

Finally, I found a solution after doing google search for a few weeks.![]()
The problem is with the Intel WIFI LINK 5100 driver power management.
The Bluescreen issue stopped when I unchecked the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the INTEL WIFI device management settings.
I reinstalled fresh copy of Vista a couple of times now and tried different versions of WIFI driver, but problem returned every time after a few days. The only thing that works is turning off this power management feature.![]()
It seems that this problem starts after some microsoft update but I don't know which one.
Has anybody else experience this issue and knows which Intel WIFI LINK 5100 driver will solve it?
Note: After many problems with Vista, I have also installed XP, and this problem does not occur there.![]()
