A week and a half ago my M50VM-B4 arrived and there has been a high pitched whine coming from the fan when it's running. It's not very loud but it can be quite irriating and seems to carry fairly far. I'm wondering if there is any known cause or fix for this as the laptop is virtually silent otherwise.
Also, I've had problems with the included Blu-ray player software and not playing the disc. The installer seems to install it correctly and the program runs, but when a Blu-ray movie is tried to be played, the program either freezes or is forced to shut down. I know it's not the disc drive as when using a trial version for Cyberlink PowerDVD8 it works flawlessly. Did I get a botch installer disc, is there a download for the same software? I'd prefer not to have to spend anything more when I should be able to play the movies out of the box...
Thanks in advance.

First, make sure that it's the fan and not:
a) the HDD. If the HDD makes weird sounds then backup your data and replace it.
b) the "CPU Whine". I have never seen it mentioned for Penryn CPUs but who knows. Look up "Core Duo CPU Whine" on google, you'll probably find a lot of info.
If it is the fan, you can consider replacing it. Best to send it to ASUS for that. Where are you located?
As to the Bluray, there probably is a download at support.asus.com, search for your model number.
