So I started having BSOD problems about a week ago, and am fairly sure it's one faulty RAM dimm, but I also noticed that when I went into the task manager, that the CPU usage when no programs are open and completely idle never goes below 50%. Is this ridiculously high? What could be causing it?

Sort the processes and see which one is using the CPU.

None are listed as more than 1 or 2%, but the CPU usage is still high in the Performance tab.

If you RAM is faulty, take out one stick and stress it using MemTest. If that stick is fine swap them and redo test.
