I've picked up an Intel X25-M for my M50 and I love it. It's really, reallly fast. the only thing is it's only 80 gigs large, which is pretty cramped for my uses. I've still got the hard drive that came with the system and the optical bay is SATA, so I was thinking there's got to be a way to use a caddy of some sort to use the HDD. I've noticed that such caddies exist for other models, but I'm not sure if the optical bay is a standardized size and most of the caddies say they're only compatible with certain models. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hence me asking if you can get an adapter to stick one in the optical bay. You know, the place where the DVD drive is.

It has to be the model with SATA in and out. One of them has SATA inside but PATA outside. Hold up a second while i look as you can see the model comparison at the bottom.

I also meant to say (though doesnt mater) While the power connector is smaller the port itself is full flegded sata so a drive will work.

Here is the one your looking for -
    Silver - http://newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_27&products_id=188
    Black - http://newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_27&products_id=197

OBHD-SATA-SATA is the model you want or OBHD-SATA-SATA-B for black not OBHD-SATA. The one you linked me too appears to be pata connector on the outside sata on the in.

No problem, note that unlike a drive swap the faceplate isnt gonna clip onto this and of course will look a little off. Looking at myne I could see the possibility of needing a minor trim on the left bottom corner everything else looks good but on the G50 its not square M50 seemed pretty similar.
