Looking at this laptop from xoticpc, They offer it with a T9400, P9500.

The P9500 is 25w compared to the T9400 35w, But they Charge $457.00 more?

the P9500 is only $379. at Newegg.

I would like to get the M50vm-b4 with a P9500, does anyone know a site offering a better deal?

    Thanks

Keep in mind that replacing the CPU will automatically void your manufacturer warranty no matter if you upgrade it or the reseller. Most of the time, the reseller would offer their own warranty as a replacement, but that's usually for 1 year and probably won't include free overnight shipping and/or accidental damage protection.

I understand that. I just don't understand why they charge so much?

Would the 10w less help battery life at all?

It will to a certain extent, but I doubt it would be a significant amount. All mobile CPUs already have automatic downclocking features which lowers the voltage when idle or with light usage. I'm guessing the downclocked voltage on the P9500 wouldn't be too far away from the downclocked voltage on the T9400.

Not sure why xoticpc overcharges quite a bit for a CPU upgrade... maybe because they thing it's more labor intensive?

Well the M50vm's have a T9400. My mistake in the first post.

Anyways, Newegg lists the T9400 for 349.99, and the P9500 for 379.99.

So It's not worth the $457 charge just for a 10w decrease.

Trying to figure out the differences between the B1, B2, B4 models have been a headache lol..

    Thanks.

It is no where near worth $457 for the upgrade.

yea, I'm just wanting to buy the best I can get. Maybe after a year I could buy the P9600 or better, then the laptop should be good for 2-4years if I baby it lol..
