I just got my M50sv-A1; however, it will not shutdown. It's using Vista. I know that I have to click the little arrow next to the power icon and select shutdown. The laptop shutsdown, but then boots right back up. The only way I can shut it down and keep it off is to hold the power button down for a few seconds. I do not want to have to do this hard shutdown everytime I want to turn the laptop off. Any ideas?

Do a system recovery from the supplied DVD and CD. If the problem persist, send it back.

That was my original starting point. I'll play with it a bit more to try to work out the problem. I've notified gentech of the problem... hopefully i don't have to go through the hassle of sending it back... i had a horrid experiance with Dell and an XPS 1530 which is why I ordered the M50sv.... bah.

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
There also might be a setting for Wake On xxx initialized by mistake, as I think I've heard of this before - hopefully Ken can walk you through it.
