I bought a Toshiba a few days ago, the X200 to be exact. Bought it for gaming and well... web surfing ect... but the thing was heavier than my car.

Today I exchanged it for a 15" Asus, the M51Sn and this thing rocks!!! THe feature that blows me away the most is the face recognition software for logging into windows... blew me away the first time I set that up, then rebooted. Crazy awesome!

Laptop is the perfect size, glad I got rid of the bulky Toshiba. This has the same processor and ram as the Toshiba, but it's got a slightly bigger harddrive, Toshiba being 200, this 250. Also, I'm not sure how they compare, the Toshiba had a 8700GT 512mb DDR3, this has the 9500GS 512mb but maybe someone can tell me if it's DDR2 or 3 ??

I loaded up Stalker and it runs failry well at 1280/800 and high settings. Medium it runs silky smooth. So far so good.

If I have one complaint, it's that my laptop is warped. Yep, warped. When I place it on a totally flat service, the bottom right corner of the laptop does not touch the surface by about 2mm. Don't really notice it, didn't think it should be this way but it oesn't bother me so I'll leave it.

Also I love how Asus through in the Accidental damage warranty for 1yr and then 2yr Global warranty. Sweet!

    Great notebook!

    The 9500GS is a renamed 8600-GT DDR2.

    So, what's the 3DMark06 score?

The 8700M GT should be around 30-50% faster.

Any thoughts on my lappy being warped? It's in the right bottom corner, if I press down slighly/gently with my palm I"ll hear a dull creek. As well, or the main thing, the bottom right surface pad does not touch the surface by about 2mm. All other pads are fine. Should I return it? Will they even exchange someting small like that for me?

the 8700mgt is faster than the 9500gs but if he is not pushing the computer too far then the 9500 will be fine. As for the laptop being warped try looking at the feet on the underside. Perhaps one got knocked off? Try adding a small amount of material underneath the foot on that corner and see if that balances it.

All 4 rubber feet are secure on and the equal length, it looks like the right corner is actually slightly warped up. You can't really notice it, but it still does not touch a perfect flat service by about 2mm. It's annoying because when I rest my palm on the right bottom corner, it creeks until my palm weight presses it down on the surface.
I called the place where I bought it, but they told me because it warped, it's considered physical damage and I will have to talk with Asus. Kinda upsetting because I just bought it yesterday and they won't do anything about it. They take refunds but with a 15% restocking fee, something I'm not willing to do. It has in no way, yet anyways, affected the laptops performance, no crashes, no lockups, etc... so I might just leave it. It's a small annoyance but what can you so? :(
