Hi,
I'm interested in buying the Asus M51VA-AS024C but it's fairly new and there doesn't seem to be any reviews of it and the Asus website doesn't even list it. I was hoping someone around here would have more info or comments on it.
Here are the specs:
- CPU: Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53GHz / 6MB L2 / 1066MHz FSB
- Chipset: Intel Montevina PM45/ICH9M
- RAM: 4GB DDR2
- Screen: 15.4" WXGA+ 1440x900
- GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD3650 512MB dedicated RAM (no idea if it's GDDR2 or GDDR3, probably only GDDR2)
- Hard drive: 320GB 5400rpm
- Connectivity: 802.11 a/g/n (dunno if it's the Intel 5100 or something else), Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Gigabit ethernet, Modem
- Misc.: HDMI output, 1.3MP webcam, fingerprint scanner
- Price: I couldn't find a USD price for it (I live in France so I only have a Euro price with French tax on it) but to give you an idea it's only slightly more than the M50VM-A1 here and that one is about $1300.
To me those specs are really good and so is the price but I'm worried about the build quality of the M51 series. Do they really feel cheap? Are they entirely made of plastics or is there any metal at all?
I'm also worried about the screen. The only M51 review here on notebookreview had a 1280x800 LCD so they can't really be compared. I assume Asus would use the same LCD than on the M50 series which has 1440x900 screens. Are those usually good?
Thanks.

For the build quality which seems to be your main concern, the M51S reviews will serve equally well (the chassis is the same for the new notebook, I'm almost sure of that).
You will find a link to the M51S review(s) in the ASUS Info Booth.
