Yes you have to remove the LCD module, unless only the plastic covers of the hinges have cracked in which case you can change them without removing the LCD. Seems kinda logical because the hinges are the things connecting the LCD to the body. :)

I did remove the LCD it's not such a big deal.

However, that manual that has been linked is NOT THE CORRECT ONE for the M6BNe. The way in which the CPU and heatsink is located is different on the M6BNe. (I think you have a M6BNe from the title of the post?)

You will probably manage to get the hinges off with that manual as that part isn't different, but to be on the safe side send me an email so that I have your email address, and I will email you the correct manual.

Afterwards, if you have specific questions about how to remove things, I can help.

How to get new hinges: any M6XXX or Z70/Z70Va hinges should do but don't base your purchase on this information, do your own research. Try asus estore (google for it) but that only ships in the US. If you're in the UK or Poland, try an ASUS reseller, they might be able to order some hinges for you -- you will pay triple what they are on asus estore but thats life. :)

    it's a bad news ;(

    i hope ;)

i know this (yes my notebook is M6BNe series).
i read some files for example:
    ASUS-M6N-Tastaturklappern
    l3800-assembly-guide
    M6A_V-Chapter 03-v1.1
    M6N Training
    M6N-Upgrade_and_Replacement_Guide-v1.1

in last two files i've got info about my laptop, how to get to the cpu and wifi/minipc. from the M6A_V-Chapter 03-v1.1 i know how to remove the lcd.

anyway i have to get new hinges. i've sent e-mail to our asus service (in Poland, becouse this is where i'm living now) and i need to wait.

    thx for help.

You're welcome. Let me know if you need help with the disassembly (didn't take the hinges apart though, just got as far as removing the LCD from the main chassis).
