I have a strange fault with starting my two year old (just over and just out of warranty) ASUS M6B000N Notebook - looking for some advice.

When I press the start button, nothing happens, except every fifth or sixth time, then the blue light surrounding it flashes with the other leds, but that's it - no boot up or screen coming on or any other sounds.
Tried it with power connected - no change.
Tried it with main battery in and out - no change.
I checked this on the net and they say that the memory needs to be re-seated - took out the memory module and put it back in, no change.
Then, took off the keyboard and re-seat the internal memory - no change. Swapped bottom and top memories - no change.
I took out the CMOS battery and checked it - 3.14V - seems OK.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should check or do, before I pack it up and send it away?

I would also point to the ram. Changing it may not give you the answer becuase the ram can be faulty. Testing one module at a time should be your next step. mem86 is a free program.

I have no doubt you already flashed the latest bios so i wont even mention it. The only one time i have seen this happen before is with a faulty cpu which only got worse as we stress tested it eventually never turned on right. A faulty cpu is the last thing to break in your laptop. Cpu rma is extremely rare if used right. You should also try removing the ide evices like harddrive and optical drive and see if that changes.

Thanks geared2play - have just amended my comments, as I expect you thought that it worked normally, other than the fifth or sixth times. It doesn't. I have since checked the battery and power supply, but they are the correct voltages.
I will look at getting other RAM to try, and will remove the IDE devices and also try it.
    Thanks.

Still abit confused...does your laptop come on at all? If so, are there problems within windows or is it running fine?

The notebook doesn't come on at all, except for the LED flickering.
Haven't tried new RAM or removing the IDE devices yet.
