Sup guys!
I have a very wierd problem with M6BNe. For some odd reason the system process is always oscillating using ALOT of CPU for no reason.
I dont know exactly what causes that problem, but have noticed that I can make it start by transfering file to/from this computer on the network or by starting World of Warcraft. Once it starts there is no way to know when it will stop. It can go on for hours even if I am not touching the computer.
I read about an issue with a windows update causing the system process to take 100% of the CPU, but my test cases have proven that this is not the problem.
Heres what I tried so far with no success:
- XP SP1 all drivers from CD (NO other windows update)
- XP SP1 with all windows updates and drivers from CD
- XP SP1 with all drivers from the ASUS website (NO other windows updates)
- XP SP1 with all windows updates and all drivers from the asus website.
On all cases when the problem occurred I tried stopping services/disabling devices in Device Manager to isolate the problem. On some occasions the problem stopped, but restarted at a later time with the "supposed threat" stopped. I then proceeded to kill processes, but the problem still occured
Im runnning on bios 0206. I did not try flashing the bios with 0207 after reading the thread on this forum.
My config is as follows:
- Asus M6Bne bios 0206
- Dothan 1.8ghz
- 2x512mb DDR Kingston PC2700 CL2.5
- WD Scorpio 80GB
- CD/DVD combo drive
- Intel wireless 220BG
Tx in advance for your help!
