THere are some fresh new updates on the global ASUS download page for M6Ne, I assume that other models will also have them to.
    http://www.asus.com/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=M6Ne&Type=Latest

These updates were released on the 20 Jan 05 & include:
    ASUS probe v 2.11
    WinFlash v2.13
    RICOG Media Card Driver V1.04.02.09

I'm installing probe and winflash now to see if they a improve temp readings, b allow you to go back to an earlier bios.

Ok not much different with these updates, no luck on going back to an earlier bios. ASUS probe temps seem a bit more stable for me, but it still reports the fan on at 3000rpm even though it aint running and temp is nice and stable at 45C. But I can live with that, how often do I sit watching temp/fan readings on my lappie?
As long as it works fine in reality !

Are you sure it's not running? My 3000rpm speed is very, very quiet. I never knew it was on until someone pointed this out to me. When I put my ear right up to the vent, I can hear it.

If your temp stays at 45, then I'm pretty sure the fan is running.
Back when my notebook would have no fan running, it would stay at temperatures of ~60+ and the bottom was very warm...
now with 0207, the fan is on 3000 RPM and the notebook is still pretty much just as quiet as it was when the fan was off. However, my temperatures are now in the mid-high 40s

Well when my temp gets to ~55C the fan becomes audabile, but it still says 3000rpm, when it gets to ~65C the fan goes to 3600rpm which is much louder and ~80C the 4000rpm fan kicks in....thats really loud. Thus my fan behaviour seems the same as it used to be re:fan experiment post, except now I have a 3600rpm speed which I never used to see.
But what I used to be 0rpm sounds the same as 3000rpm, but 3000rpm still sounds = to the old 3000rpm when temps get higher. Hope that makes sense.
I have put my head/hand right next to the outlet and I can't feel or hear the fan, the only noise I can hear is the HDD spining. Ofcouse I could take my lappie apart to make sure but my care factor on this issue is pretty low. I'm not really that concerned with the fan noise, 99% of the time I have music etc playing which overpowers the fans by a long way. As long as my lappie stays cool I'm happy.
But I guess that's just me
