Well this is the second time my M6Ne has gone to the crappers. The first time it appeared to be a faulty GPU, as 3D games would not work. So they replaced the m/b and all appeared to be better. However, I noted that the 3Dmark01 scores were a lot lower and game performace wasn't quite as good as I remembered, but I was just happy to have my lappy back. Then after about a month it started to become more and more unstable. Then I started getting Blue screens of death. Ok maybe its doggy software conflicts or something, I do a clean reinstall, I still get blue screens, do another install and monitor the notebook for 2 weeks. Was getting BSOD atleast 2X a day, from playing games, burning dvd/cds to checking email. So I decided to upgrade the bios. Went to instal the M6Ne bios 205A, and it refused(winflash) saying that it is the wrong model. Did some checking and they put the wrong m/b inmy notebook, ie a M6N m/b which has a ati9600 gpu instead of 9700 that the Ne has. Boy was I $&$%(&(*$(@#$$.
Returned it to the store I purchased it from demanding a refund or replacement, but they refused, saying they would only repair the one I have. Very very disappointed. I have been a huge supporter of ASUS but now I becoming a little less enthused by their products. I realise that there are multiple levels of errors from retail thru repairers and back to ASUS that are the source of my woes. But after shelling out $3600 of my hard earned cash I expected to have a much better experiance that what I have got so far. It is perhaps something that other buyers may need to consider before purchasing an ASUS or any notebook. How good is the after sales service?
Anyway the repaired notebook is meant to be back tomorrow at the retail store, they promise to test it completely to ensure stability, but as they had no idea of the differences or existance of the two models M6N and M6Ne, I not confident that they will know how to test it properly.
Time will tell I guess, will I have after a month of use have to take it back a third time??? If I do will they finally give me a refund? Will I have to take the issue to consumer affairs?

Well I just read the post about the really really poor dell support (http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8425). Maybe I don't have it that bad after all. I guess my notebook is going to be repaired within a day or two. That is pretty impressive, and I've only spent 10min on the phone. I guess its always good to see that the situation could always be alot worse.
I just hope that its a case of 3rd time lucky for myself and that I don't have any more problems, and I still glad I didn't get a dell!

I had a slight issue with my keyboard, and rather than go through the store simply took it out to the repair depot in Sydney. They fixed it while I waited which was good.

I've exerienced Dell care and it really stinks.

Yeah I thought about taking it direct to ASUS but its quite a drive from where I am, and I was kinda hoping for a replacement unit. Oh well, as long as it gets fixed correctly this time I guess I can't be to upset... Esp since it is supposed to be back tomorrow, which is a 24h turn around. That is pretty damm quick in anyones books
