I recently recieved my m6n and was having some problems with the sound device. It only work half the time windows started up. I installed the newest bios and then i reinstalled windows and the sound device wasnt found at all.
THe modem also isnt detected or able to be installed.

I tried reflashing the bios and i was very happy to see that the add hardware wizard found both of them when i rebooted. First it installed the modem and said installation was successful, then it went to install some usb driver and i couldnt get that to work (now i realize it was usb2 and i needed to do the sp1 first to get that to work) and then it went to install the sound device driver and i installed it from the cd and picked out the driver.. It said it could not be installed and there was a problem. After rebooting windows the sound device was not even present in the device manager. it had a question mark net to it before i rebooted. I am not sure if the modem showed up in device manager after it was installed but it doesnt show up anymore, and i cant reinstall it. I've tried reflashing but it doesnt find any new hardware.. I even tried removing most all the hardware, reflashing, and restarting, and it still wont find those 2 devices.. Not sure what to do, any ideas?
The bios is verseion 2.09a i believe (the website and the file say 2 different things)

This doesn't sound (no pun intended) to good. To me if something works then doesn't then I would be guessing it is hardware related, maybe taking it back to the store for a replacement might not be a bad idea. That beeing said have you tried using newer drivers rather than flashing the bios, I always see that as a last resort option. On a side note did the notebook come with restore cds? if so do they work? Otherwise there are often driver updates available when you run windows update for modems etc, do any of these help? As you mentioned USB 2 doesn't work to well until you install SP1 for Xp.
Sorry I cant be of any more help, I hope it works out, and if you figure out the problems let us know.

Yeah i've tried all the newest drivers.. No luck so far. I am not the original owner unfortunately. I do have all the packaging and cds and what not that came with it, as well as the original invoices of the person who bought it from a retailer. It came with a driver disk, and some dvd program and a few other software programs, but no restore disk. I think it is hardware related also. I am looking to get it warranteed by the original owner because i dont think the warranty is transferrable, and i dont want to chance it. The original owner informed me that the sound and modem did not work from time to time (after i bought it)
