    Hello!

I have an Asus X52N with a fried motherboard (almost a cup of coffee spilled on it) and I want to have it repaired. Problem is that a new mb is way too expensive so I`ve found an Asus K52N with a broken display.

I know that the first letter of the model represents the chassis and materials used, but before buying the K52N I wanted to ask you guys if the swap will be possible.

Also, I`ve noticed that on the back of the X52N on a sticker says : "MB model : K52N". Still, I would like your input on the matter.

    Thanks!

If i'm not mistaken, the motherboard is the same between the X## and K## models so an X52 should have the same mobo as a K52, an X53, the same as a K53 and so on. Isn't the X52 an European model?

Just check the port layouts and the overall layout of the components, if they match it should generally work since the X and K series are the same give or take a few specifications.

Looking at some internet pictures, the layout of the ports is the same, I cannot say the same about overall layout of the components because I don`t have the K52N, yet.

Yes, the X52 is an European model.

With all these I`m guessing that I have a fair chance of succeeding. I`ll return when I`ll have some results.

    Thanks for your opinions, guys!

As promised, I come back with some results. The only physical difference between Asus X52N and Asus K52N is that X52N has WIN 7 and Radeon stickers on it, or at least that is all I`ve noticed.

I decided that it would be best to swap the display. And the K52N with X52N display works like a charm with a small problem, but I`ll open another thread on that.

Bottom line is that the MB got fried and so did the processor and a 2 GB RAM module and of course the keyboard acts like a mad one.

I`ve attached two photos of the dead MB, just in case.
