Had a Asus X553m given to me that has 8G ram and is quad core so kinda worth saving. I have to replace the screen and by using an external lcd monitor was able to see the laptop running fine.

Not sure how I did it but now I am not able to see the external monitor anymore.

The new screen is a few days away so I thought I'd swap the hd and install Win 10 instead of the 8.1

I've hit the Fn F8 a few time but may have hit other key combos by mistake.

I see the ASUS startup screen but once win 8.1 loads the screen is just black (there is signal).

Any help appreciated, just trying to upgrade before the replacement screen arrives but may have to wait.
