Ok, I'm a notebook noob. I was planning to order the W3V with Proportable tomorrow. I had ordered it through someone else, and now just waiting for the cancellation to go through.

Before I go ahead and order the W3V, I wanted to know what the main differences were between these two. I mostly plan to use for business tasks, but may do some light gaming on the side. Also, I listen to alot of music, and travel frequently.

Thanks for your input. The Asus line looks so nice, and read mostly positive reviews on their notebooks.

Sounds like the W3v will be better for you since you'll travel frequently; it's lighter and that will be a great asset.
They are very different... the Z71v is more of desktop replacement, whereas the W3v is more of a portable option.
There is no doubt in my mind that the W3v is right for you [ :D]

The Z71v has a plastic case, while the w3v does not. the z71v has a better graphics card, and is generally cheaper and customizable. the w3v is lighter. So basically, you would get the z71v for power and the w3v for more portable power.

doesn't the w3v also carry a 0 pixel warranty on the screen? That is a huge deal since about 2 weeks afre I got my notebook I found out that I had 1 dead pixel. With the z80 you need more than 1 dead pixel for display replacement but then again with the size of the pixels it is nearly invisible and unless you know where it is you probably will never see it. Anyway I'd go for the 0 pixel one if I were you.

I don't think that zero dead pixel guarantee is on the W3V... that only applies to V6V, W1 series, and M6 series. At least I'm pretty sure...
