Major problem on new Asus k75vm with ssd

Amazing news!!!

Today I received the KINGSTON SSDNOW V300 480GB ssd I had ordered on amazon, in order to replace the 120GB ssd that was already running fine but was old-fashioned and left me little room to play with (no odd stuff - see my previous post) and... well.. IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING!!!

That's huge, guys, because at the current day (early July 2015) that 480GB drive is widespread and, imo, the most affordable 0.5GB ssd, retailing at 150 EUR (and roughly the same $) on amazon.

It has been running only for a few hours, so give me a few days to test it thoroughly with regular use, but it seems to be working 100% (installed all software, downloaded stuff, rebooted a number of times).

Again, it's in the regular HDD bay (the center one), no ODD messing. Asus bios 2.34.

Hi K., I've had the Kingston V300 480GB for some time now, and I can say it works great with my K75VM; actually I've had some issue with the first unit I bought (it started crashing the laptop, and eventually behaving erratically), but it was all about a faulty SSD unit and was replaced under warranty by Amazon in no time; I believe that such a cheap unit as the 480GB V300 is supposed to run into yield issues until the manufacturing process is mature...

Has anybody tried any other current SSD?

I registered in the forum to describe my case.
I also have the ASUS R700V (K75VM), after some time I decided to speed it up by replacing the HDD to the SSD. The first drive I bought "Crucial MX300 275GB" did not work with the notebook, I exchanged it on the "Samsung Evo 850 250GB" were also problems, the third drive I tried was "GoodRam Iridium Pro 240GB" and the same did not work with my laptop.

I have tried various BIOS settings and versions and connecting the drive to different slots. In IDE mode the disks were visible, in AHCI not always. Attempts to install the system failed, if one succeeded, there were startup problems. The Intel HM76 chipset does not support SATA 3 support.

Finally, I found a topic on this forum and decided to try the SSD which Roberto described "Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB". What was my surprise when I connected the drive and BIOS detected it in AHCI mode Immediately I started to install the system (7 ultimate 64bit). Important! Disk should be initialized in GPT partition mode, with MBR problems (at least in my case), while system install in UEFI with pendrive, not from ODD drive. The second hard disk (HDD) must be disconnected during system installation.

Currently everything works. However, the drive achieves speed as in SATA 2 and not SATA 3. It is difficult to conclude that the Intel HM76 chipset on this laptop does not support SATA 3. Anyway, there is a huge difference in notebook performance

This is not full of satisfaction, but I'm glad I finally found the SSD with which this laptop works fine.

Yaszczur, I had problems too with SSD but now it works great. I have the same laptop as you and tried to install "Samsung Pro 850 512GB". Firstly it wasn't visible but already is. It need to be plug in master slot (near the center) and make clear operating system instalation (Windows 10). Before that I upgrade BIOS to the newest version and set AHCI mode. Now the drive working on SATA 3 without problem. At the secondary slot I have my old HDD drive.
Everything works fine and for me problem solved.
