I've finally gotten my W3V and at first I had some disappointments, especially with the ctrl being second left on the keyboard! But I've managed.

Another feature I miss from using other laptops is a dedicated volume control that only invalves one hand. Right now I have to use both hands and press Fn + F11/F12 to lower/higher the volume.

So My thought is to make the left side of the touchpad act just as the right side does with scrolling only the left side controls the volume!

Not just the w3v though, most of if not all of the ASUS's have Fn at bottom right.

I dont think it will work, for a few reasons, the right 'virtual scroll' side, is probrably made to act as what it is, and the left side not so. Of course, this is only what I think but who knows

As well, the w3v touchpad isn't that big, so when you use it normally(just say you dont have a mouse), you can easily brush it and stuff changes.

How about changing the media buttons(The ones on the side edges) as physical sound changing buttons? I know people made it to change it to run WinAmp, etc. so it would be kinda possible...
