What some final comments. Getting an ASUS Z70va and want to know which would be better to go with Corsair or Kingston RAM. More importantly why? Details!

I chose 2GB of Kingston for my Z70va. I bought it from Newegg and installed it myself.

On a side note, I had to reseat the chips a couple of times before the notebook worked correctly. I asked my vendor, ISTNC, about that and was told they preferred Samsung/Infineon RAM for their Asus notebooks. ISTNC said that Kingston and Corsair memory wasn't as good as Samsung/Infineon. Their tests had shown K & C memory to have some problems with Asus notebooks. I've not had any problems since I reseated the RAM, but if I ever do, I'll get the Samsung RAM.

    Enjoy your new Z70va!!

It didn't take long for the vendor bashing to start, did it? I'm sure that Justin and the holier-than-thou Asus reverend will be here soon to continue the tradition.

    Time to move on...

I've got 2 GB of Kingston ValueRAM in my W3V and I've had no issues with it or any other Kingston RAM i've used. IMO, the best RAM is from Crucial and Kingston. I have no experience with Corsair, though i've heard it's pretty good.

although corsiar is high performance, i have heard of problems with them (remember the nforce2's having probs with them?). Infenion actually is a chip manufactor (not packager) and they can sometimes have compatibility, but they're always SUPER FAST and very low latency! Kingston though, ALWAYS WORK. I've also found Samsung to always work too (although it tends to have higher latency = lower performance)

The DDR2 OCZ pc-4200 memory has worked perfectly for me, haven't had any problems.

Reason to buy Corsair: Corsair is part of JEDEC, which sets the standards for memory cards

Reason to buy Kingston: They're the biggest independant RAM manufacturer

Reason to buy OEM/Samsung/Infineon/Transcend/whatever else: Like Eddie, said, there's hardly any difference between brands, so why spend more when you don't have to?

Actually right now we pay about 20cents for a 512mb of no brand infineon over kingston (with infineon modules on them) 512mb. Corsair being about 5$ more. Personally i really dont care what the brand is as long as its tested and works great in our systems. I guess we can use any module manufacturer but what we got now works so why change it. Never had a burned module in a laptop. There ofcourse have been compatibility issues (none with centrino) but as they saying goes if it aint broken why fix it. Also wanted to add that our house brand which dont even have a name on the module becuase its so cheap works a tad faster then the kingston modules. Not that you will ever notice. I am talking about 12mbps on a scale of thousands.
