Is there a memory leak in Chkmail? I noticed that it uses around 5 MB ram on a fresh start of Vista and slowly increases to around 68 MB ram usage.
Anyone else notice this?

Have you run an antivirus scan lately?
-
I have and everything is clean. Spyware scan and antivirus scan come back clean. Infact, I've run multiple AV scans. Avast is what I use, but I've also used some online scanners such as Trend Micro, Kaspersky, etc.
-
Good....because I've had in the past some processes consuming a lot of memory and it was because of spyware or viruses
-
Other ASUS bloatware is known to have memory leaks, namely, ASUS Live update.
If chkmail is not essential for you, I'd suggest remove it. Not for the 68 MB of RAMbut because it might have other bugs that have worse effects.

I left my laptop running for 6 hours. When I checked chkmail memory usage, it was at 155 MB.

Remove.
Case closed. -
Theres a few other versions that have been made that run with Thunderbird that dont have leaks as far as I can tell

I use Outlook. Is there any alternative program to chkmail?
-
You can try this one.it is an edited version of the orginal chkmail. it works for me with outlook and msn messenger when it detects new mails.
Download here -
I am a bit nervous to download the file you specfied CenA. It has been uploaded today and it is only 10 KB big when the original Chkmail is 1.84 MB.
-
I tried the program. It doesn't work for Vista Ultimate.

I guess it is xp only then, sorry. it is very simple program, it depends on the unread mail counter in windows registry. when the number of unread mails change, the program activates email LED.
