Hey guys, I want to upgrade from 2 gigs to 3 gigs of ram for my Asus G1 (older model). I was wondering if someone could suggest a good compatible type of ram for this laptop. It would be a big help if they could share the link with me. The cheaper the better, but I want quality ram, that will last. Thanks

    Is it the G1p?

It has 2 sticks of 1gb so you want to buy one stick of 2gb? Check the deals forum, Gophn has a good thread on latest RAM deals.

I believe you notebook can only upgrade its memory to 2GB max 1gb x 2 My friend has the same issue I'm hoping an eventual BIOS upgrade will up the limit to 4gb but so far no luck

Incorrect on the memory upgrade comment.

3Gb works well in the G1 (there are many reports here to support that statement), but 4Gb is a problem because of OS issues and memory mapping (not just a BIOS issue) at the system level. 4Gb memory does not work in 32bit OS' and support in 64bit is spotty. In addition, there are *very* few end-users who use any applications at a level for which 4Gb would show an appreciable (beyond just in benchmarks) gain in function over 3Gb; in other words, 3Gb will be more than sufficient for 99.9% of notebook owners' needs :).
