This is problaby a dumb but i just wanted to check.

    My 8600m GS has a core/mem of 500/400.
It is the version running 256mb DD2.

My question is when i look at rivaturner it tells me that i have a core speed of 540mhz (which is odd)and a memory clock speed of 399.2.

Now maybe i am stupid but shoudn't the memory clock speed be about 800 given that it is DDR2, or am i just mistaken.

What are other people getting for there memory bus speed.

If this is the case then there is definitly something wrong with my card, could it be driver related??

Manufacturers can modify the speed of the card so that it wont fry itself. Its that way so the maker of the laptop can be certain that the fans will keep the notebook cool to a certain point. (without overclocking)

The actual speed is 400MHz, which is what's reported. The effective speed is 800MHz, since it's Double Data Rate.

So Riva truner is correct. It should show 400 not 800.

I am sure that i saw it say like 800 at one stage. Is there anything that will dispaly efective speed.

    I am in Brisbane, Australia.
I got it from one of the local computer retails.
