I was just reading though ProPortable Merom Model Updates and saw some disturbing information. If I read his post properly the Merom models will arrive in NA between mid October and early November. However, he also wrote that from those dates we will have to wait 8-10 weeks till they are actually ready to ship, which would mean early 2007. Thus, my question is, will Asus' Merom models, namely the W3J, be ready ship to consumers before Christmas? Hopefully I misunderstood the ProPortable thread, because while I want an Asus, I'll need a new computer before the new year.

    Thanks in Advance

I thought he said they would arrive mid October to early November in small quantities, meaning that first shipment would go towards backorders

Unless I was on crack, which I think it fairly certain that I wasn't... I said 8-10 DAYs, not weeks. If there was a glaring mistype like that I'd be surprised that someone didn't point it out last week when I started the thread, so either it was an obvious mistake or you misread. I just said that all of the ETA's are "to customs", which then get picked up by Asus, brought back to their place, sorted and shipped.... and then they need to get to us and as soon as they get here, they're ready to ship, but we can't ship from customs or even california (or we'd need to charge california tax). I'll look over that thread and if I said "weeks", I'll change it and I apoligize.

Yes, the shipments are going to be small, but i think by early December, stock should be pretty good. We do have a backorder list, but the quantites coming in will be able to fulfill those and live sales for a little while afterwards.

Thanks for the info ProPortable, days make a lot more sense than weeks! I guess I should go make myself some more coffee, because I have no idea how my brain processed that.

I checked it out and although I didn't explicitly say "days" after the "another 8-10", if anyone would read that and think it takes 2-3 weeks to get by sea from Taiwan to California and and then 8-10 weeks from there to Pennsylvania, one must think they're walking themselves across the country. When you figure in a few days for asus to sort and ship, 2 day shipping, a possible weekend, and then a day or so for us to get them and get orders processed... you're looking at around 8 days or so.
