    Merom-compatible BIOS for S96J released

    Went over to the Intel site to check for driver updates, and has a new BIOS released today with the notes 'BIOS Update for Merom processor'.

    Talk about speedy. :D

    atlast it is official , now i only need a cheap,good preforming merom cpu

    the reviews dont show a huge performance increase from yonah to merom...i havent seen any 64bit benchmarks yet but there's no 64bit software either...ill pass on this for now

    depends on the applications in question. In gaming i didnt notice a huge boost

    i would upgrade just for the 64bit
    but, i only really use linux (ubuntu), so i won't be using vista

    yep, pentium m notebooks prices are dropping. makes good budget lappies :)

    yea as far as increase in daily tasks jump from yonah to merom wont be worth it, just mainly for the 64 bit really

    Did they take the BIOS update down? It's not anywhere on that page you linked to.

    I agree...I do not see it on that page. The olnly one there is the 6/1 bios. Did anyone download it?

    I downloaded and installed it already. nothing really changed ... except for the bios version :) .

    I updated the BIOS. And I got:

    1. Booting without warnings.
    2. Windows XP can auto stepping speed.
    3. Shutdown and standby is OK.
    4. SuperPi 1M 24sec => 23sec

    so goooooooood! :)
