    So I just recently started looking at Asus laptops, and am trying to figure out the method to their model number madness.

    I see that they have quite a few different series G50, M50, F8, etc. I am currently looking at the G50vt-x2. It seems the G stands for gaming, as they also have a G71 series. I also noticed that a lot of the models end in a1, a2, x1 or x2. What does that stand for?

    Anything else that you can point out about their model numbers?

    G50v - A1 -> Main stream Gaming Laptop
    G50v - A2 -> Same specs as the A1, but with blueray

    G50v - X1 -> The watered down best buy version of the A1
    G50v - X2 -> A better version of the X1, but still watered down (I dont think it comes with blueray, someone please confirm this, and no bluetooth either)

    G50vt - A1 -> The newer model. Same specs as the G50vA1 but with the 9800 GS video card instead of the 9700GT
    G50vt - A2 -> Same as the Vt - A1 but with blue ray

    G50vt - X1 -> Watered down Best buy model of the vt-A1
    G50vt - X2 -> A better version of the X1 (again please confirm)

    All of the above laptops are in the 15.4" form factor. The G70 / G71 series is a 17" form factor. The naming convention follows pretty much the G50 series

    I cant help you with the M50 series, but maybe another member can?
