My Asus (Vista-64) and Acer (Vista-32) notebook have been getting random BSOD upon downloading and installing Microsoft Update KB977165. If you have this update downloaded and installed I highly recommend you un-install it or do a sysyem restore and then un-check it in the update list. This was suppose to be a Windows-XP patch but has caused BSOD havock on Vista-32 and Vista-64 operating systems. I hope this helps. :)

*My Acer BSOD right away. My Asus much later.

As usual Microsoft does it again. Similar thing happened to me once when I was under Vista. At that time Vista patch caused problems with power4gear and led to BSODs.
This time I am lucky because I switched Win7 on all my machines.

Personally I never had any issues with Vista, though I didn't get it until SP1. Windows 7 is basically the same OS, so it makes sense it works well.

Did the upgrade last night, everything went fine except for a few minor issues.. I had to re-install norton off of the cd after I downloaded there removal tool, and the ati ccc had to be removed from the control panel (10.1 drivers).. Not sure how I am going to get ccc installed again.. I may have to switch back to 9.xx drivers?
