Hey..I think i installed a crucial program on my S96j without realizing it...My function buttons for increase and decrease volume no longer work (but the other function buttons do). My speakers are now also RIDICUOUSLY low...I had to put my ear to the speaker to hear it on full blast...:-\

In addition, the power4gear profile changer key doesn't work anymore (the left most button of the top four buttons near the power button).

And btw...what's the fucntion on the f3 button do? It has a picture of a laptop and a box on it...I assume it's the switch between laptop screen and external monitor?

Probably, your crucial program screw up another application and make it conflict. Try to uninstall the programs you installed before, reinstall all the utilities from Asus drivers cd, then verify whether the hotkey still work. Sometimes a conflicted program cannot be fixed, only one way be fixed is to reinstall a fresh Windows, driver, utilites and test before installing another application.
    Cheers

Also, if you can't figure out what went wrong and you have System Restore enabled, give that a try to a time you know everything was working.

Ok, so HControl makes all the hotkeys and function keys work again. The only problem I have is that it doesn't load up automatically when Windows starts up. I have to manually open it everytime. Sysinternal says that HControl is loading on startup though...:-\

    Any help please?

I disabled it in msconfig previously and that disabled the keys. Go to msconfig and put the checkmark beside it there and it should auto load with Windows again.

If that still doesn't work, you can do a search find it on your computer and drag a shortcut to the 'Startup' menu in your Start Menu.
