Okay so this morning when I booted my laptop, the screen was all screwed up. It looked like the matrix w/ dif. lines of color streaking down the monitor.
I shut off the laptop, waited, and turned it back on and it was fixed.

Another problem is it keeps making a creeking noise like its reading something on the harddrive...is this normal? Its pretty loud. It wasn't doing this yesterday when I first got it. The fan sounds pretty loud too and I'm barely running any programs.

Hmm.. never had the streaking lines prob on mine....

The noise I have is from optical drive, small clicking sound at times, not from HD, but I could live with it... the fan shouldn't be really that loud... can you check what rpm it's running? Try downloading NBProbe from ASUS and see what speed it's running at...

the streakign issue cud be a loose connector to the screen from the motherboard?

hmm..thats the thing though - there isnt a CD in the drive. Its just making a slight creeking noise like its reading something...its not really loud, but can get annoying. Maybe I'm being too picky?

I'll try out the NBProbe program...can some1 link me to a download - I tried google and couldn't find any sites w/ a working download of it.

I tried that, but it seems like Asus's website is overloaded right now because its taking forever to get to it and when I finally do it gives me an error.

Where else can I dl it? Or can some1 send me it plz

Okay I was able to download it...here are the stats:

    CPU Temp: 54 C
    CPU Fan: 3200 RPM
    C: CPU Usage 7%

It really isn't a problem, I guess at the time I was being irritable. Are these normal stats?

The lines and artifacts on the screen can be caused by a failing, failed or overclocked vga card. If using aftermarket vga drivers remove them.
