This is my attempt at a sticky. I don't know how many know this, but if you want the VERY LATEST software from ATI, the following link: Catalyst Linky will download the latest drivers. I figured if you didn't know about this bypass, maybe one of the mods would want to make it sticky. The reason I am posting this is due to a recent thread that posted 'modded' ATi catalyst software... why not just get the real thing? It will always be the most updated version - I tried it a few months ago, and that same link gave me the (then) latest updated drivers. I can confirm it works with my Z96Js/S96J X1600, perfectly (and has for months). It has the device info for all the most recent mobility radeon video cards.

I am not sure how many have Windows XP X64, and I don't know how many will be getting it, but I'd also like to give a little guide. I have added this to wikipedia as well, but I'll add it here just in case. To do this, you need two things: to download a tool called Vmodtool, or dhmodtool. This can be downloaded at the following URL: DHModtool4c.exe. You also need ATi software that can be downloaded from the site - for Windows XP X64, download the catalyst software by selecting the following options:
    ATi.PNG
This will allow you to download the Radeon (not mobility radeon) - note that you can select any of the video cards - select your own, or another; it makes no difference. Now download the catalyst control centre. Note that I have tried the LATEST from Ati (7.2) and the method I will describe didn't work for me; there is a link at the bottom of the page that says "previous drivers and software... if you want to skip all of that simply click this link and download Catalyst 7.1 for which I can confirm it works. (not sure why 7.2 doesn't work). Anyways after you have downloaded the CCC 7.1, double click it to start the program. It will extract to C:\ATi\support...etc. and start installation. Cancel the installation, because this is RADEON, not MOBILITY RADEON. Now is where DHModtool4c.exe comes in. double click it, and when it comes up (must have .net framework 2.0 to install btw) select the ATI folder (not subdirectories thereof) and click "go mobile". Then it will mod your drivers for XP x64, and it will ask you if you want to install. Continue normal installation of Catalyst software/driver.

Wow! Thanks a million for the driver help. I have a laptop that's approaching 4 years old that I just install WinXP x64 on, but I simply could not find drivers for the Mobility Radeon 9600 video card that it's got. ATI (now AMD, of course) doesn't have any CC versions lower than 7.3 available for download on their website, but 7.3 worked for me and now, FINALLY, all is well with my display. I'm just glad that I don't have to go back to Vista x64 on that machine. I HATED Vista (although ATI's display drivers worked without a hitch). Anyway, thanks again. You're a lifesaver.
