The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

... oh, that's also why I decided to put a hold on our MVP program... and that's also why I decided to bring it back now.... there are a lot of good people starting to come around.

well when people leave its not such a bad thing... I've seen you write that they are probably off being productive with their Asus notebooks by their sides. They'll come back if they run into trouble, or need to by a second..

It's a given, it can't be stopped, the pending release makes them waste 2-3 hours per day here, or more even, and when they get it, theres not much need really, I respect they have things to do, school to attend, games to play, 9-5 shifts to go back to, etc.

But a visit every once in a while won't hurt :D

Here's the thing...... when customers tell us that they love their notebook and appreciate our service and everything...... and then they say they'll deffinately buy their next system from us. It's a compliment, but we always tell them that we hope we don't see them for a long time.... Not to be mean, but because we know these systems last and it really sorta hurts return buyers...... yes, we get the people buying for family and friends and other word of mouth refferences... but in terms of someone finally beating their system to death.... We finally started getting some repeat business like that from this year from customers who bought systems back in 2001/2002......

In regards to the forum... the people who absorb a lot and have the knowledge they've gained - leave.... Yes, to go be productive..... but that means less people to help the newbies and the same old questions being asked over and over. The people I'm saying we're missing now are those who treated the forum like a community as I do and appreciated each others comments and could ask questions and share advice and help others instead of just being a parasite and suck the forum dry in a selfish manner..... I think we're starting to get away from that again over the last month... but from May to sometime in September, that's pretty much all we saw.... Yes it has a bit to do about notebook releases as well, but if you're here everyday you see the changes and unless you can just give it up and leave, you've got to deal.

Well all things get "boring" after a while...I dont' blame some old and experienced members from leaving. I was really into another forum (not notebook related, game-related) back in May, went on the forum like three times a day. By August, I totally lost all interest to return. I dont' understand it, I still like that forum, but I just suddenly don't have any interest to post anymore. I guess that's what happened.

Its cause most people only really care when the information is all in the rumors phase. Not to imply that no one cares aftewards, but the need for knowledge has been fulfilled and the hardware has been purchased. You'll notice from time to time, these folks will only drop by when they have tech difficulties. But i suppose given enough time, we'll have a really well-established 'knowledge' asus-forum-dwellers society : )

you should have thought about that when you went and sold your soul! :p jks jks, you're cool.

Cori : Should buy a chainsaw and cut the chains down :)

But seriously.. if you need to get away, can't you just ask for the other mods or even get new mods to help take care of the place while you're not available?

I hope Cori doesn't go - he is one of the most helpful people here. He and Justin certainly keep this place running.

This place is hard to leave. I know that it is one of the few things online I check regularly (more so than my email or bank account).
