I ran into some money i hide like 3 years ago...lol well anyways, I was wondering if I should maybe upgrade my RAM. So two questions

    1. Does anyone know if C90s supports 4gb yet

    2. You think there will be a huge difference between 2 and 3? or what can i expect from the change. Like the change from 1 to 2 is astronomical in vista.

    Thanks, Tyler

    That your laptop?

If so, I researched it and it says it only supports up to 3GB 800MHz DDR2 RAM.

You'll notice just a little change if you upgrade from a 2GB to a 3GB. It won't be a drastic change though, that's for sure.

I don't think it will ever support 4gb simple because of the chipset limitation(965).

To be honest, no you won't see a huge difference. For the time being I won't even suggest you to, I've seen a few C90s users struggling with ram compatibility issues when jumping to 3gb and it'll be a pain in the butt to try and find the right ram. I'd say, save your time and money on something else and wait for Asus to fix this issue first, then you can upgrade if you like.

I've got 3gb no problems. I didn't see a great performance difference in Vista (couple of games are a little smoother), but if you run a Virtual Machine in Linux it's pretty great great to have that extra 1gb.

Hey Zoid, do you have one of the newer core 2 duo processors? I read alot about the 3GB stability issues when going in and out of battery power. I read something basically saying that the older C2D processors required more battery power and therefor would lock the laptop up when unplugging the ac.

I don't know actually, I have motherboard revision F06....I'm on battery power right now....just pulled the plug. The problem with wireless and battery power were a batch of bad Intel agn cards....Ken at Gentech sent me a new one, and problem ceased. He said Asus was able to recreate the problem, and that's what it was.

I think the additional ram would help if you are like me and have many apps running simultaneously. Less paging out to the HD in that situation. I don't think 3GB will make much of a difference for OS resources over 2GB. Just my 2 cents. Ram is cheap, so may as well upgrade to full amount if you can as sometimes Ram can increase in price, especially like the older DDR-3200 or Rambus memory.

I'm using VirtualBox...I had a copy XP Pro laying around, so I use it to run a couple of windows tax programs in Linux. Works great. Actually I have a four panel desktop switcher, so I run it on another desktop and switch to it with a click....compiz cube effect and all :D
