I recently acquired a new GL702, and for an unknown reason the motherboard is beeping often but inconsistently.
I have installed a temperature monitor, and the HDD temp is roughly 40, and roughly 50 for the GPU and CPU, so I don't think it's a temperature warning (and the beeping frequency isn't affected by heavy use or gaming).
To clarify, this is not the normal sound, as it does not come through the computer speakers, and isn't affected by Windows' volume control.
I've poked around the BIOS menu, and didn't find anything relevant. I've also looked at the volume mixer, and the Realtek mixer, and there is no relevant sound device which might be causing the beep. There is also nothing relevant in the device manager which seems promising.
I know it might be possible to look inside the laptop and disable the internal speaker that way, but I'm hoping there is a less invasive procedure or suggestion.

coil whine maybe?

I doubt that very much, it's making a very deliberate beep, like I've heard before from internal computer speakers. It's kind of the same noise I used to hear from pressing too many buttons on a keybaord at the same time, but this one doesn't have any evident cause from what I'm doing with it

if it's a new laptop, return it.
i wasn't even aware these laptops had motherboard beepers like desktops do.
I've taken apart the GL, and I did not see any speakers like you suggest....don_svetlio likes this. -

When the beeping occurs, do any of the keys flash? Also does the system beep even in the BIOS?
