Ordered this netbook about three weeks ago from J&R and got an email last Monday that it was backordered...which I knew. Based on what I'd read and the specs it seemed like the best 10" Atom netbook on the market. I called and was told they were expecting a few in shortly with more in mid-March. So of course mine arrives the next day. What a cool little computer. The keyboard is better than I had imagined. My son and wife both were interested in a netbook as a standby computer or to use in class or at a meeting but after thinking about it they both decided it really wasn't necessary. That was then...when I had the 1000HE out of the box and running (took all of three minutes) they both wanted to not only use it but to buy it from me...lol lots of luck.

So, the short term immediate reaction is wow...not bad for under $375. Now let's see how long it holds up. Can't wait to get Win 7 installed on it.

I got my HE from jr.com too. I got it mostly for the epic battery life and the price. Next to my wife's hp mini 1000, the HE is a little husky though.

Does this have the N280 AND the GN40 chipset with the GMA4000 GPU? I know that the N280 can come with the old school 945 chipset or this new one.

congrats to you.. I am still waiting for mine to land this Wednesday or so. This will be my first net book, so I am hoping I won't regret it.. Although the not so good part is I have to pay $400 for this system, as it costs $18 for the shipping. I hope it pays off

The n280 difference is prolly negligible except that it may help the battery life. The HE doesnt have the upgraded graphics.

I ordered it on 2/15, it shipped on 2/17, and I got it on 2/19 using regular shipping. JR's shipping order seemed to be random. Many folks that ordered the HE before me are still waiting.

    Congrats!

I've been holding out for a price-drop on the Samsung NC10. But I must admit that I'm starting to think about ordering a 1000HE instead.

Question: I've heard that the 1000HE is much "chunkier" than the NC10. Just how chunky does it seem to you HE owners?

These look nice, its not a big upgrade from the 1000H except for the battery life but the cost of it is less, at under $400 how can you go wrong, also looks like they fixed the shift key placement?

I have not used my EEE in a while, been to busy but I would love to have one of these or the 1002HA.
