Hey I just recently checked my CPUZ and noticed that it says that the CPU is clocked at 1.5GHz... But when I do the 15% overclock (The asus one) It goes up to 2.9ish GHz. The 2.9GHz at the 15% overclock seems normal because the clock speed is suppose to be 2.53; however, why does CPUz says my standard clock speed is 1.5GHz?...

That's Intel SpeedStep. The CPU clocks down when it is not being fully utilized to save energy.

Lol thanks... Wow how silly of me :\
+rep for being awesomelol haha

how does speedstep work?

It just cuts the multiplier down to reduce the speed. RAM and BUS speed stay the same. Some computers also will reduce voltage at the same time.

Speedstep works by dynamically altering your CPU's frequency and voltage according to your CPU load. For example, when your computer is idling, it's most likely using <5% and since you're not utilizing the CPU to its fullest capacity, speedstep kicks in and lowers your CPU speed in order to conserve energy. As soon as you start opening programs and utilizing more of the CPU, speedstep will increase the CPU's frequency back to its original setting.
