    My Asus N53SV has a B156HW01 V.5 screen, can I use a V.4 screen?

I have a gloss FHD screen which crashed. On obtaining quotes for the V.5, one company wants to sell me the V.1 and said there was no difference between this and the V.5

This got me researching and I believe the v1 is 60% gamut matte where the v5 is gloss of some sort. Is this correct and therefore is this guy talking utter crap?

Then I realised I would like the matte FHD version if possible and read that the v.4 is one of the best at 95% gamut matte. Can I use this in my Asus N53SV laptop? Also, any recommendations on where to buy as I have heard there are so many fakes? Maybe not.

The B156HW01 V.4 is quite likely usable on your Asus. Check the tiny flat-cable connector vis-à-vis the B156HW01 V.5.

(I like the glossy B156HW01 V.7 more than the matte V.4.)

    Good luck.

Thanks Kaso, was hoping you would reply! OK, I'll search around for prices as the connector looks the same

Ha, why? Don't confuse me now.

This one here looks the same as the one you suggested. Any advice?

Also, I have a metal bracket around my LCD now which I connect screws onto. Do these ones come with it or is it easy to take this bracket off and reinstall onto the new one?

    Cheers

Buy at the site I mentioned. They ship worldwide, and they sell "exact" parts, not "similar, compatible" parts. (I have zero business affiliation with them.)

You must remove the bezel, be it plastic or metal or a combination of both. This, you have to do careful research on, relative to your Asus.

Glossy V.7? Just my personal preference. (The slight grittiness of the matte coating has a bit of effect that I am sensitive to. On the other hand, the V.7 is only subtly glossy, and its colors are more vivid.)

I removed the bezel. But unfortunately I broke a few of those plastic clips/holders/teeth thingies. Do you have any experience with doing this? I'm not sure if I need a new bezel or can just do something spectacular myself and work around it.

Is the V.7 any different to the V.5 which is supposedly only glossy as well?

I'm just unsure about people saying "No, V.5 is only in glossy" then I find retailers selling them in matte and glossy. As I said, one onloine seller said he only has the V.1 and there is no difference to the V.5 (and it was really cheap)! I just don't want to spend money if I don't have to although I know you get what you pay for.

    OK, I'm rambling.

V7 is the V4 without the anti glare coating. Bezels are best removed by placing your nails carefully on the inside edge of the bezel and lifting up.

V.7 is better than V.5. They are both glossy.

Well, as I said, most of them sell "similar, compatible" parts. Are you still shopping around? Why?

    Too bad. Haste makes waste.

Well I was going very slowly and used my nails. Just some were really stuck down! Researching on it, I think I am the only one to ever crack these teeth off.

Anyway I purchased a V4 from a local seller for $99 - as good as it gets with exact model number

    Cheers for the help
