    Here's the story...

I have recently acquired a G73JH-A1 and my G73JH05 has started to have AC Adapter issues. I also have other small issues but not worth mentioning with my 05.

I called Asus to start the RMA process. The agent asks me if I purchased my 05 from Bestbuy. I said; yes. He then says I see that you've RMA'ed notebooks in the past. I said; yup.

He says; well I'm glad to tell you that our policy has changed for our Bestbuy customers.
We have made Bestbuy a Authorized Service Center for our laptops sold through Bestbuy. He then tells me to take it to Bestbuy and if they can not fix the unit then they'll be authorized to replace the unit.

So I called Bestbuy and got put on hold 3 times because this was new news to them. Finally a geek squad agent gets on the phone and says that they are now authorized to repair/replace units under the Asus Manufacter Warranty.

    Yehaaaaaa!!!!
No more Asus RMA!!!! Now I can hold someone personally responsible for warranty related issues.
This is AWESOME news for RX05/09 owners, especially GSOD/PSOD owners!!!

    1600x900 native is regretabble,

but otherwise high fives across the board.

Not really. I got an A1 from a friend for under a grand and I actually prefer the 05's 1600 x 900 res. I also have a M17x R2. When I find out what G73JH model is the better machine I'll sell the other variant or take what I need to make the superior unit .

I've noticed that in Starcraft 2 the 05's 1600 x 900 performs way better than the A1's 1920 x 1080. Even when I scale down the A1, the 05's LG screen performs better at native res.

May I ask what fps you hit while playing SCII @ all ultra, on the 1600x900 native res model?

40's to upper 50's with the 05 and CCC 10.7. The most mentionable difference is that on the A1 at native res with ultra settings there is stutter here and there that is not present on my 05 at native res. I also noticed that my A1 runs 4 degress higher with the same 10.7 CCC and ambient room temps.

And last but not least when I scroll across the terrain the movement isn't as smooth as the 05. My guess is that it's a GPU limitation.

Good thing they both use the same AC adapter :)
Now I have to get Bestbuy to replace the adapter under the Asus manufacturer warranty.

I also neglected to mention that on both machines I turn the shadows to medium and everything else to the highest setting in Starcraft 2.
I know that everyone thinks the twin turbo mode is useless but I've seen smoother terrain scrolling in SC2 with it enabled on both units.

Hmmm trying not to get too much further OT (lol), Im usually in the high 40's to low 50's on my A1 w/ an 840qm CCC 10.6 @ native res, ultra settings ect. I dont see any sort of shudder when rapidly moving across the terrain (expect maybe when epic battle ensues and a lot of units are on creep and/or cloaked, and my frames drop into the mid-high 30's)

I thought I had read somewhere that the model (presumably the best buy model) with 6gb of ram, lower res screen, and one hdd, was shipped with a 120 watt adapter...is that information incorrect?

Either way, I havent had any problems with my g73 (that I havent fixed and seemingly stabilized), so its good to hear that if something occurs with the g73's bought trough best buy, customers have another option outside the tedious rma process

Could that be because the ram speed is increased? And I havent turned anything down, and still hit those frames...oh I also have the ddr3-1333 however

This has nothing to do with screen "performance", you're only recognizing how much easier it is for the exact same hardware to generate 30% less.

both of my models have 8GB's of the 1333 ram. I upgraded my 05 to 8GB's. I still can't figure out why one models gets better perfomance than the other with the same config.

^I'm kind of excited to see what the new unofficial 211 Bios can offer but I don't want to risk loosing keyboard backlights on either unit.

I guess the good thing is that if it does mess up I can go to Bestbuy :)

you're probably right but I'm pretty sure that would be overlooked and by the time it's up for debate 211 or similar or higher will be released.

Have you done this yet? I wonder how long Bestbuy takes...

And for SC2 framerates, play a 4v4 and in a major battle let me know how much fps you get :)

You can also call the BestBuy Geeksquad support line and tell them yours is broken and you need a new one and you want them to mail you a replacement.
This might be a better option because they probably don't have a replacement in store.
I actually left mine at work one Friday and went to BestBuy to buy another power brick but of course they don't carry ones that big in the store for sale.
A geek who was helping me told me to just call the Geeksquad support and tell them mine was broken and they would send me a new one.
I didn't follow through on this because I didn't want to lie. ;)

On my way to work I stopped at Bestbuy and they offered to swap my entire 05 with a 05 with 1333 and the LG screen. I was not prepared to make the exchange because I have not performed a backup. I also have a Bluray Burner installed, 8GB's of ram & Internal Bluetooth module.

The only issue I was having was the AC adapter and the Bios booting twice before Windows bootsplash screen.

Its all good now because I have migrated my components and software to my new 05 and at present everything including idle temps is PERFECT. Bestbuy + Asus = Win.

I'm fairly certain I was. I called, and pressed 3 (or w/e the number was for geek squad support), a women named jessica came on the phone, explained to her what happened and that all I needed them to do was remove the cmos battery, she proceeded to tell me that they (maybe they as in that store specifically?) hadn't been approved by asus yet, to do anything.

I believe you, just saying mine doesn't seem to be authorized to do anything. If I may ask, where do you live?
